Ethan Philion Quartet

Ethan Philion’s Meditations on Mingus celebrates the enduring legacy of Charles Mingus through what JAZZIZ magazine called “strong, fresh arrangements” of Mingus compositions with a focus on pieces that speak to the current social and political environment. Featuring an all-star cast of Chicago jazz musicians, the band has performed at the Hyde Park Jazz Festival, Green Mill, and Chicago Jazz Festival; their debut album will be released on 8/26/2022 on Sunnyside Records. The band will be performing in quartet form at Icehouse featuring Philion, Russ Johnson, Lenard Simpson, and Devin Drobka
