SUMMARY:Claudia Johnson
DESCRIPTION:Claudia Johnson is a singer-songwriter who was based in NY for 24 years and has written and produced two original music projects. Her second recording\, as well as an upcoming third\, were written and produced here in Milwaukee. Claudia has performed around Milwaukee with a full band in various iterations\, this newest band is a trio with drummer Paul Westfahl and guitarist Chris Newlin\, both incredible writers and performers in their own right. Having worked together in other projects it felt natural for the 3 to come together for this project and reimagine some of the arrangements and find a unique approach to Claudia’s music. Her music is an eclectic mix of rock\, pop and contemporary singer songwriter styles and represents various musical influences.  The three together have created an organic and intimate approach to the music.

SUMMARY:Robin Pluer Quartet
DESCRIPTION:We are so excited to be hosting an amazingly talented set of musicians this Friday. \nFeaturing Robin Pluer — a veteran on the Milwaukee music scene\, Robin is often cited as one of Milwaukee’s finest musicians.  You have probably seen her at place like Bastille Days or the Jazz Estate\, and now she is right her in the heart of Riverwest!! \nGuy Fiorentini — Award winning multi-instrumentalist\, author and music educator Guy Fiorentini has been a regular on the Milwaukee music scene for over 20 years\, working with many of the best blues\, jazz\, rock\, and folk artists in the region. \nJuli Wood –For the past twenty years with four albums as a leader\, several studio projects as a side man\, and countless worldwide performances\, saxophonist\, vocalist and composer Juli Wood has established herself as a solid\, swinging\, lyrical and entertaining performer on Chicago’s music scene.  Juli has played many jazz clubs and festivals nationally and internationally; Chicago Jazz Fest\, Hyde Park Jazz Fest\, Milwaukee’s Summerfest\, Chicago’s main jazz clubs – Jazz Showcase\, Green Mill\, Andy’s and Katerina’s. Skansen Jazz and Blues (Stockholm \, Sweden)\, Pori Jazz Fest (Finland)\, Bent J’s club (Aarhus\, Denmark)\, Storyville (Helsinki Finland)\, Arlandia Jazz Fest (Aaland Islands\, Finland) and the ” Made in Chicago ” jazz festival in Poznan Poland to name a few. \nPeter Roller — Guitar playing has led me to many styles and cultures\, I’ve enjoyed synthesizing these influences in my playing and writing – and helping students take steps toward doing the same… \nA youthful interest in surf\, Stones\, Dylan\, and Butterfield Blues Band records led me to Roots guitarists like Mississippi John Hurt\, Son House\, Fred McDowell\, Blind Blake\, and Muddy Waters–then to creative interpreters of their music like John Fahey\, Ry Cooder and Leo Kottke. On the heels of this acoustic blues-centered music I was grabbed by the Dobro playing of Josh Graves with Flatt & Scruggs. This sent me down another rabbit hole: playing lap slide influenced by Hawaiian steel guitar innovators\, the country/bluegrass Dobro of Brother Oswald and Mike Auldridge\, as well as Jerry Byrd’s sublime electric lap steel. I wrote my Music major Senior Thesis on the Origins of the Steel Guitar and Dobro at Grinnell College in 1977.

SUMMARY:Billy Peterson and Andrew Walesch
DESCRIPTION:This is a ticketed event!  Buy tickets here: \nhttps://barcentro.ticketleap.com/ \n  \nBilly Peterson  is one of the premier\, most celebrated bass players in the world. His uncompromising talents as a performer have brought him widespread recognition\, as well as his plenty credits as a composer\, arranger and producer. So it is no surprise that the world-renowned bassist is quite often also compared with a chameleon\, but not only as he can fill many positions\, but also as he is at home in several genres of music weather it be rock\, pop\, R&B\, soul\, jazz\, folk or country. \n  \nAndrew Walesch somehow manages to encapsulate the sophistication of a cosmopolite and the self-effacing charm of a country boy. \nWhether composing and arranging or appearing in settings ranging from solo artist to big band\, this St. Cloud\, Minnesota native\, who criss-crosses the bold North playing dates big and small\, is as respectful of his predecessors as he is ready to take a leap into the unknown and chart a new course. \nIn his monthly\, sold-out shows with his 10-piece band\, Walesch is a traditionalist and an iconoclast rolled into one. His audiences include jazz enthusiasts of a certain age\, as well as a younger crowd compelled by his down-home insouciance\, and the knowing irreverence of a tried-and-true American nightclub entertainer. “Although they are my idols\, I don’t attempt to imitate the great pop and jazz artists of the 50’s and 60’s\,” says the singer and pianist\, “but I go for broke when we do our shows – vocally and musically – which is what they all did best and why they were in a class of their own. I take risks\, but I’m from Minnesota\, so I’ve got jumper cables in the trunk.” \nBuy tickets at https://barcentro.ticketleap.com/
