DESCRIPTION:Ethan Philion’s Meditations on Mingus celebrates the enduring legacy of Charles Mingus through what JAZZIZ magazine called “strong\, fresh arrangements” of Mingus compositions with a focus on pieces that speak to the current social and political environment. Featuring an all-star cast of Chicago jazz musicians\, the band has performed at the Hyde Park Jazz Festival\, Green Mill\, and Chicago Jazz Festival; their debut album will be released on 8/26/2022 on Sunnyside Records. The band will be performing in quartet form at Icehouse featuring Philion\, Russ Johnson\, Lenard Simpson\, and Devin Drobka
